Hypnosis Explained

When used properly, hypnosis is an amazingly effective way, to make changing in your life seem effortless. People from all walks of life from cooks, truck drivers, and technicians to the world’s top performing celebrities, wealthy entrepreneurs, elite athletes, educators, artists, thought leaders and business innovators have all benefited greatly from the power of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring process. In fact, most people unknowingly enter into and experience it many times each day. When it does occur, the conscious mind (the thinking part of the mind associated with personality) slows down and drifts out of focus. At the same time, the subconscious mind (the deeper region of the mind responsible for controlling patterns of behavior, processing memories and the inner imagination) that usually remains in the background becomes active. During the time the subconscious is activated, sensory information such as features of the environment, background sounds, air temperature and other specific details get picked up and registered in the mind, but is given much less attention (than in normal, waking consciousness) and is generally not acted upon.

This rest state helps the subconscious process all the information that gets picked up by the five senses but never fully acknowledged by the conscious mind. The parts of the mind responsible for conscious thinking are slowed down and the body diverts some of that energy to other bodily functions as part of a kind of “routine maintenance” period.

The Hypnotic State

The hypnotic state is most commonly described as a peaceful feeling of relaxation. It’s also often referred to as a “trance-state,” a “day dreamy” kind of focus, or an acute fixation or fascination. It’s a completely healthy and normal phenomenon somewhat similar to meditation in that there are still various levels of awareness, but not many thoughts are being formed.

Utilizing a hypnotic state in specific ways has proven to be consistently effective because it can provide a wide range of powerful positive benefits that contribute to physical, mental and emotional wellness and success.

Hypnotic Suggestion

When a person is in a relaxed state of hypnosis, their critical thinking, judgment and decision-making abilities are much less active than normal. During this time they are more susceptible to suggestions. Skilled hypnotists use this principle to give guidance and suggestions to their clients in a smooth, gentle and encouraging way; helping them to change unwanted behaviors quickly. In many cases, even instantly!

When a trained hypnotist induces a trance-state, and offers helpful suggestions to facilitate changes for a client, it is much more effective than an untrained individual entering this state on his or her own and trying to influence themselves to change. Some of the world’s top hypnotists believe it may even be several hundred times more effective than such a self-induced state.

Life Improving Outcomes

The part of the hypnosis process that empowers a person to make changes takes place when the hypnotist gets the client to intensely respond to their imagination. For example, if you’ve ever had a strong emotional or psychological reaction (such as a getting intensely angry at a villain or feeling sad or happy for the main characters) when reading a book, or watching a movie or TV show, playing a video game or just imagining a personal scene playing in your head, then you have experienced the power of hypnosis. In other words, emotional reactions to imaginary events still cause the body to react physically (biochemically) as if these events are real. So when the client awakens, they will begin to respond to the hypnotist’s suggestions as if they are real and then engage in the new, healthier kind of behavior.

Hypnosis has helped countless numbers of people lose weight, stop smoking, control and eliminate stress and anxiety, change a wide range of behaviors and achieve success by empowering them to grow and heal. With the help of a trained hypnotist, you will find it to be a powerful, effective and enjoyable approach to quickly make positive, satisfying and rewarding changes in your life.
